Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Susannah came to the Hudson Valley to attend Bard College and fell in love with the area. After graduating, her job opportunity in the film industry fell through and left her scrambling. Being reluctant to move to New York City and recognising that she could potentially make a bigger impact on the world in another way, she decided to stay in the Hudson Valley and join the solar industry. 

 

After joining a local solar company, Susannah was quickly promoted to join the engineering team where she learned how to design solar electric systems for homes and businesses. Making an impact on climate change while also saving local folks thousands of dollars was an inspiring and impactful work experience that made Susannah want to continue working with businesses that seek to change the world positively. 

 

Spending several years working at Etsy in different departments taught Susannah so much about mission-driven business and working across cultures. Susannah was thrilled when Etsy offered her the opportunity to work for them abroad for over 5 years, helping build out their international operations and building their creative communities in both London and Melbourne. 

 

Susannah and her partner, Patrick, who is originally from Tivoli, decided to return to the region to start their family, which now includes 3 year old Evie, and their rescued Husky, Guinness. They purchased a home in Clermont several years ago and have been fixing it up little by little thanks to Patrick’s skill as a builder. 

 

After returning to the area, Susannah took a position at a local solar B Corp, heading up their marketing team. She has years of experience leading teams, managing budgets in excess of $1.6 million, and creating strategy and project plans. In the last year, she’s also been helping lead her current company’s efforts to increase diversity, equity, and inclusion and has attended workshops and training programs on this important topic. 

 

Throughout all of her work experiences, Susannah’s curiosity and passion for making the world a better place has led her to dig into tough problems and come up with creative solutions. She would be thrilled to bring that same curiosity and passion to the Town of Clermont as a member of the town board.

 

The Clermont community will face a lot of change in the coming decades. We can expect more development, more traffic on Route 9, and a more unstable climate. Susannah looks forward to getting more people involved in government so that we can tackle these challenging issues and together keep Clermont welcoming and prepared, not just for us, but for our future generations too.
